Swimming Lessons

South Kitsap Community Pool offers a range of swimming lessons tailored to various age groups and skill levels, including infants, children, teens, and adults. The program emphasizes skill progression, with clear prerequisites for each level, ensuring a structured learning experience for all participants.

Lesson Pricing:

  • Private Lessons: $25.00 per class
  • Group Lessons: $7.00 per class

    • Pool will be closed from August 10-23 for annual cleaning

    Time:

    • Wednesdays: 7:00pm-8:30pm
    • Saturdays: 11:00am-12:00pm

Swim Lesson Level Skills

Based on the swimmer level the following skills are needed prior to the start of class.

    • None, but prior exposure to pool is helpful
    • Enter and exit water by using ladder
    • Submerge face and blow bubbles for 3 seconds
    • Bobbing 5 times with bubbles
    • Front Glide (with assistance) 1 body length with recovery
    • Back Glide (with assistance) 1 body length with recovery
    • Flutter kick on front (with assistance)
    • Flutter kick on back (with assistance)
    • Combined arms and legs on front 1 body length
    • Combined arms and legs on back 1 body length
    • Enter water by stepping or jumping from side of pool
    • Fully submerge face for 5 seconds
    • Bobbing 7 times with good rhythm and bubbles
    • Front and back float with recovery for 5 seconds
    • Front Glide 2 body lengths with recovery
    • Back Glide 2 body lengths with recovery
    • Combined arm and leg action on front for 3 body lengths
    • Combined arm and leg action on back for 3 body lengths
    • Finning on back for 3 body lengths
    • Roll from front to back and back to front
    • Rotary breathing for 5 times with board
    • Breaststroke kick with toes out for 5 kicks
    • Bobbing 15 times
    • Rotary breathing 10 times with a board
    • Front crawl with side breathing for 8 yards
    • Breaststroke 8 yards
    • Elementary backstroke 8 yards
    • Scissors kick 8 yards
    • Scissors kick 8 yards
    • Dolphin kick 3 body lengths
    • Front crawl 15 yards
    • Breaststroke 10 yards
    • Butterfly 10 yards
    • Elementary backstroke 15 yards
    • Back crawl 15 yards
    • Sidestroke 10 yards
    • Open turns
    • Shallow dive from side and glide 3 body lengths
    • Tuck surface dive
    • Pike surface dive
    • Front flip turn while swimming
    • Tread water 5 minutes
    • Tread water, legs only for 2 minutes
    • Front crawl 50 yards
    • Breaststroke 25 yards
    • Butterfly 25 yards
    • Elementary backstroke 50 yards
    • Back crawl 25 yards
    • Sidestroke 25 yards
